We found someone presenting themselves as Hickory Creek Firewood on Facebook Marketplace. They even provided our address! They hooked folks with too good to be true pricing, then they required a deposit!

Our pricing is fixed and is posted visibly on our site*. One of our regular customers alerted us to the situation after corresponding with this individual. Her husband had found this fellow on Marketplace and thought he would save some money. Since they pretended to be Hickory Creek Firewood, she texted us and asked if we had different prices for different people – we do not.

We will never ask for a deposit. It was after the imposter asked for a deposit that she knew she was certainly dealing with fraud. We do not ask for a deposit or require you to pay in advance for firewood delivery. If anyone representing as us does so, be sure you are communicating with us via the contact information provided on this website.

Chad Stearns is the owner/operator of Hickory Creek Firewood and his photo is on this website – the person you are dealing with should match the photo on this site**. We have each reported this account to Facebook Marketplace – but want to post about it here as well. We hope to ensure no one else gets taken in by this individual.

Because we are striving to maintain long term relationships with our firewood customers, we welcome you to come by (by appointment) and pick up a bucket ($40) and acquaint yourself with our facilities. There were other Red Flags for us when viewing this Marketplace profile. We noticed that there were numerous firewood pictures, depicting significant amounts of different types of wood, all in different locations. Every photo featured a different structure. The number and variety of structures alone suggested these images did not represent a single firewood seller but rather a collection of stock or internet images intended to mislead unsuspecting customers.

*If you are out of our service area, we will still take care of you if we can but we might need to request additional delivery fee. We might also request we schedule in such a way that we can bundle deliveries to your area.

**You might have other Hickory Creek Firewood team members working with Chad, but he should always be involved in your delivery.
